Why We Serve
1. Christ First Served Us
For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many (Mark 10:45).
2. We Are Commanded to Love One Another
Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another (1 John 4:11).
3. To Exercise Our Spiritual Gifts
But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good (1 Corinthians 12:7).
4. To Bring God Glory
Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven (Matthew 5:16).
Ways to Serve
Age Group Ministries
Whether it is serving as a chaperone or rocking babies, Ascension Baptist Church is committed to the Spiritual growth of our children and youth. These areas are always in need of volunteers.
Small Group Bible Study
As a result of our commitment to the Word of God, we offer opportunities to serve in our small group Bible study classes.
Audio-Visual
Sunday morning Worship does not just magically happen. Between the Live-Stream, Sound, and On Screen Projection many people are involved with Sunday morning Worship. If you have enjoy for technology, this could be the team for you.
Community Engagement
Throughout the year, Ascension Baptist has the opportunity to go out into the community and share the love of God with the people of Ascension Parish. These events require the help of volunteers who love to share the Gospel with others and meet new people. If you have an outgoing personality or never meet a stranger, we need your help with bringing the Good News to our community.
Deacons
Deacons are a vital ministry of Ascension Baptist. The word deacon, is derived from the Greek and literally means servant. Our deacons have a heart of service for the Lord and for our church. Whether it is helping set up and tear down for events or contacting church members to see how they are doing, our deacons serve in various ministries of Ascension Baptist.
Team Reach
Team Reach is a major ministry of our church and is broken into several categories. The primary goal of Team Reach is to reach Ascension Parish with the Good News of The Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Prayer Team
The Prayer Team intercedes for our members, guests, and community bringing petitions, thanksgiving, and praise to God.
Greeter Team
Everyone wants to feel welcome. At Ascension Baptist, our greeters have the primary responsibility to make sure that happens. Our greeters serve as the frontline, welcoming all who attend with a warm smile and the love of Jesus Christ.
Connection Team
Part of our strategy to reach people is following up with them. Our Connection Team is committed to contacting guests after Sunday just to check in on them and make sure the church is aware of their needs. By following up with guests, we have the opportunity to pray with them, share the Gospel with them, and invite them to join us again.
