What is Operation Christmas Child?

The mission of Operation Christmas Child is to provide God’s love in a tangible way to children in need around the world, and together with the local church worldwide, to share the Good News of Jesus Christ.

Every year since, Samaritan’s Purse has collected shoebox gifts filled with toys, school supplies, and hygiene items for children around the world. Since 1993, more than 178 million children in more than 150 countries have received an Operation Christmas Child shoebox. The project delivers not only the joy of what, for many kids, is their first gift ever, but also gives them a tangible expression of God’s love.

Tens of thousands of volunteers from local churches around the world partner with us to present the Gospel of Jesus Christ at festive outreach events where children are surprised with these shoebox gifts.

Bless Children Around the World Without Leaving Home

Now more than ever, children need great joy! You can give boys and girls in need a tangible expression of God’s love through a gift-filled shoebox packed from your computer or handheld device. In just a few clicks, you can select toys and other fun items to include as well as a letter and photo to delight the heart of a child. After we pack and ship shoeboxes like yours overseas, local believers share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with children as they distribute them. As a result, families are reached, new churches are started, and communities are transformed. It all begins with you. Pack a shoebox online today by clicking on the image!

How To Pack A Shoebox 2020

The Video provides an overview on how to pack a shoebox!

Steps To Packing Your Shoebox:

1.  Find a Shoebox

  • Start with an average-size cardboard or plastic shoebox. If you want to wrap it, cover the box and lid separately.   This year OCC has supplied our church with 300 plastic shoeboxes, so you can pick them up on Sunday Morning!

2. Girl or Boy?

  • Decide whether you will pack a box for a girl or a boy, and the age category: 2–4, 5–9, or 10–14.

3.  Fill with Gifts

  • Select a medium to large “wow” item such as a soccer ball with pump or stuffed animal, then fill with other fun toys, hygiene items, and school supplies.  Visit the OCC Website Or download and print out the list of gift suggestions.

4.  Pray

  • Most importantly, pray for the child who will receive your gift. You can also include a personal note and photo.

5.  Follow Your Box Labels

  • Donate $9 online and receive a label to Follow Your Box and discover the destination of your shoebox gift.  If you prefer to download and print Basic Labels remember to include your $9 donation per shoebox.

6.  Drop-off

  • Church Family and Friends, when you come for worship Sunday, November 15, on BRING your shoebox gift, so we can pray over them.
  • Community organizations and friends, you can bring your shoebox gift to our church because we serve as a local drop-off location during National Collection Week, Nov. 16–23, 2020.
